These were Salem’s words to Ghaith as he handed over his watch without a second thought, as if it were the most natural gesture, needing no explanation or justification. He expected nothing in return, nor did he wait for a story to convince him; to him, kindness should never be delayed or negotiated, and generosity is simply part of who he is.
Salem, the eldest among his siblings, lives what Ghaith described as a “blessing of the body.” He neither works nor reads, but firmly believes that whatever is entrusted to Allah is never lost, and a giving hand is never left empty.
When Ghaith gave him a prayer mat, it served as all the proof he needed that goodness still quietly weaves its way through people in the simplest acts, always reaching those who are worthy. Salem was delighted with the gift, knowing it would stay with him, join him in his prayers, and serve as a reminder that true giving doesn’t end in a single moment, it leaves a lasting impact that endures far beyond.
